Le moine appelle ses frères

Dans l'Arche d'Eglise

The monk calls all his brethren

 Dans la tradition monastique orthodoxe, l'appel à la prière se fait avec la simandre, pièce de bois frappée avec un maillet sur un rythme qui sonne comme les paroles "To talenton, to talenton!" [les talents], souvenir de la Parabole célèbre du Christ. La Tradition rapporte que c'est par la simandre que Noé appela les animaux à entrer dans l'Arche avant le déluge. Quelquefois le matériau est le fer, la simandre devient alors sideron.
